In other news, I was coming home from a show last night and saw some friends playing poker in my neighbors apartment. I joined in and lost 40 bucks in a couple of hours.

Big Weekend

So this weekend was pretty amazing for me, It made me realize how lucky I am to have such kind and supportive people around me.

Thursday: In the mail I got birthday packages from my family, and I have to say I made out pretty darn well. Lot's of Cash Money, and a Propane Grill!!!! I'm super psyched about the grill thing because the weather just started to get warmer and the opportunities for back porch cookouts are going to increase by a billion times infinity.

Friday: We had our project writing reading theater in which we read Brian's script which I really really loved. It's so hilarious, I can't wait to see it made into a movie.

Saturday: Saturday night was epic. To celebrate the last "project writers reading theater reading" (which is actually next week) , the class went to a bar called Parrot's and we had a semi-formal karaoke party. I will post pictures when the become available to me. In the mean time Molly has some up on her blog.

The group got me a really nice card to, I almost cried, but I'm too much of a man to do that.

Supposedly Chrissy (my girlfriend) and Brett (my neighbor & improv friend) had a heated argument over whether or not the entenmann's cakes we got on sale at their outlet store were a good deal. $5.10 for two cakes and English muffins. Chrissy was very excited about it and Brett burst her bubble. It was hilarious.

Sunday: We had an IO show, for the "freeze tag" portion of the show they called me out to be in every scene. I'm so terrible at freeze, because I think my mind and body take the term "freeze" to mean "stop being funny". Anyway, it was hilarious to me, because it was super awkward, and awkward = funny to me.

Oh yeah, Chrissy got me an appointment for a professional massage on Thursday, so after that anyone has permission to call me "Limber Louie".

Purdy Park

I had a conversation with a coworker today about the park outside our office. According to her, directly outside our building is where the Summer Dance sessions are. Basically they are weekly free dance lessons for anyone.

So, count me in....

Doing Reviews

Here are some short reviews I have of things:

Tears of the Black Tiger. Thinking back on this movie I loved it more and more, mainly because of how unapologetically weird it is. Other words to describe it are: Funny, Violent, Sad, Epic. So I give it 3 out of 4 kiwis.



Extras. I'm about a year late on this train, but this show is so darn funny. This solidifies my belief that Ricky Gervais is a comedy profit send from hilarity heaven. I just watched an episode where David Bowie makes up a song in a bar about how pathetic Ricky's character is. Amazing! I give it 4 out of 4 candy corns.



Inland Empire. David Lynch's new movie came to Chicago a few weeks ago and I got to see the premiere. David Lynch was actually there, which made the experience super awesome for me. However, I was not in love with the movie. There was no discernible plot after the first 25 minutes, which made the remaining 2 and a half hours a major challenge. If you love Lynch, watch it, if not you will want your time back. I give the movie 2 out of 5 lug nuts.



But the experience was a 8 out of 9 barettas.

The script class that I have been taking from Mr. Griggs (pictured above, smirking). We read our scripts in front of an audience. These are all awesome and I can see everyone's scripts as finished movies in my head. If I were a producer I'd buy them, but if I were a producer I would also probably be a jerk.

Wing Night Rehearsal
Early rehearsals for an upcoming Donny's Skybox run. The Skybox is part of Second City which will mark my first performance there. It's pretty exciting! Oh, and I made the new Wing Night website.

CSC Dance Rehearsal and Actual Dance
The Chicago Sashay Company: Active Dance Team gets together and rehearses our dance for that nights Don't Spit The Water Dance. We tried a new one this weekend, and despite and quiet audience I think the dance rocked. The song we danced to is Rick Astley "Never Gonna Give You Up"

Louie Does Shoes

So these are my new shoes. I was debating whether to talk about them but these shoes have made me realize something about myself as a tall man:

Just like a tall building needs a solid foundation, a tall man needs stable shoes.

I need shoes with a wide base, and thats what these provide for me. Wide base = stable footing. Last night we had a Show at IO and couldn't stop jumping and running and doing cool things with my new Kicks (slang for shoes). Over the past year I have been getting used to running style shoes:




The shoes pictured above provide more stability at higher rates of speed. However, when I am moving I am usually moving slowly, and when given the choice I prefer sitting or leaning.



Example 1-A: Chrissy and I sitting/leaning after winning a marathon race for some sort of cause.

So I love my new shoes, plus they are kermit green and I love kermit alot.

Hey, so I thought of a list of recent movies I really want to go see. This may involve a little Theater hopping:


A super stylized Thai Western. It looks like both a parody and homage to westerns in general. But the weirdness of it makes me want to see it right now.



Based on a the true story of the Zodiac killer. I read a book about him and had nightmares for a week. So naturally I want to see the movie. Oh, and he was never caught...
