SKI WEEKEND USA!!!

Yeah! Full Tilt Ski weekend extravaganza to the extreme!!!!

Actually, I snowboarded, because I have a thing about authority. Skis are so Status Quo!

Chrissy, Jill, Mike and I went to the Alpine Valley Ski Lodge for a fun yuppie weekend.

I hadn't snowboarded since I was 14 or 15. So I started out my hardcore adventure into the world of extreme sports on the bunny slopes. Once I did that a few times I graduated to the gentle (yet deadly?) beginners slopes.

By the second day I was ready to try the hardest of the hardcore... The Black Diamond slopes.

I wouldn't say I conquered them, but I definitely made it to the bottom without falling down.

Chrissy, Jill and Mike were all awesome skiers who were way ahead of me in terms of skill level. But still a lot of fun was had...

...That was the skiing...

Now, A review of the "Resort" part of Alpine Valley Resort.

Pretty Awful.

We got there before our check-in time on Saturday so we could get a full day of skiing in. There was no running water anywhere in the lodge. We were told that this was due to a water pump breaking, but we were assured that it would be fixed by the time our room was ready.

When our room was ready, we found out that we had been moved to a smoking section of the hotel because of flooding that had occurred in our original rooms (that were supposed to be ski-in slope side rooms). When we asked about a reduced rate for this, the woman at the front desk said "It's nature, what do you expect us to do about it?"

I don't know maybe call us and let us know, or give us a reduced rate?

How DID they compensate for this? They gave us 6 complimentary drink tickets.

That seemed a little weak to us.

But we took them and used them later that night at the Alpine Valley Pub/Sports Bar. (It was way more Sports Bar than Pub)

1st off, we couldn't flag down a waiter to save our lives. Then when we got our food they mixed up a few of the orders and most of the food was pretty mediocre.

I think if something is advertised as a mini pizza, and the server brings out a pita with a couple of artichokes on it and some mozzarella, you are probably on a hidden camera prank show. We were not on a hidden camera prank show.

In my opinion, after the first few instances of bad service, it became a game of guessing what they would mess up next. Every time something would go wrong we would laugh, put our hands on our hips and say "Oh Alpine Valley, You'll never get it right, will you?" Wah Wah!

All the bad customer service and food aside?

We still had a ton of fun.
